And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. – Revelation 6:2 KJV

This is the verse describing the first Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, let me ask, where in there does anyone get the idea that his name should be Pestilence? Or Plague? Or even Pollution?!? And why do they all start with P!?! Maybe if you called him Politics, that’d at least be close… but no, this is about the Conqueror. The Horseman fated to Rule.

But fate is a funny thing. See, it’s rare for those destined for a certain role to actually be excited about filling that role. Not that the Conqueror has ever been excited about much in the first place… So that begs the question: how did it happen?

How did a kid who grew up knowing he was going to die before he even turned nineteen become one of the biggest threats to the Multiverse? How did a man who would sooner dig out his own eye with a rusty spoon than deal with the hassles of leadership become a Conqueror? How did someone who wants nothing more than to be left alone become a walking Apocalypse?

It all starts with a Trial, and a boy who learns that for some people, death is simply a minor inconvenience. It all starts with World.
